When I started university, I didn’t realise how the cost of textbooks, travel and lunches would add up. My bursary was ideal as it meant I could purchase all my textbooks right away – there were no worries about running out of money, or whether I could purchase all the other things I needed for university.
When I was at school, I had no idea what came next after university – without the ICAS Foundation, I honestly don’t think I would be where I am today.

If you’re studying and have a commitment to working a part-time job as well it can be really hard – so the ICAS Foundation bursary definitely helped relieve some of the financial pressure on me at university.
I graduated in 2020 and have joined a Glasgow firm as an audit assistant, working towards becoming a CA. When I pass my exams, I’m definitely going to give back to the foundation. I’ve been in the position of its students and I know first-hand how much it helps.
